Andrew Square is Southie's front door for commuters and its best-kept math. The square itself is a working crossroads, with Andrew station at the center and Dorchester Avenue and Old Colony radiating out, and the blocks around it have become the neighborhood's most active construction zone, with the 'On the Dot' corridor bringing new buildings year over year. Moakley Park's fields and the Carson Beach shoreline are a few minutes east.
The dollar goes further here than anywhere else on the peninsula. Classic triple-deckers dominate the side streets, joined by brand-new buildings along Dorchester Avenue and Old Colony with amenities the older stock can't match. Roommate groups get whole floors; couples get space for an office. The rule of thumb: every minute closer to the station, the sharper the pricing.
Who it suits: Value hunters, roommate groups, and commuters who count minutes. The most home per dollar in Southie.
